Come ‘n’ Try is tonight, Early Bird registration closes at midnight

Just a reminder to everyone about two important things happening today.

Come ‘n’ Try
The action starts at 6:00 pm at Sandown Park in Lower Sandy Bay, and all are encouraged to attend. It’s a great way for beginners to experience the sport, and experienced players may want to come practice their teaching skills and recruit promising new talent for their teams.

Early Bird discount for Summer League
The final deadline for discount early-bird registration ends at midnight tonight, so if you haven’t registered AND PAID before then, you’ll be stuck with the regular price of $50 (an increase of $15 over the early-bird discount). If you know any potential players who have never been in a TUA league before, remind them that if they sign up they’re eligible to receive a free disc (to be handed out probably during the 2nd week of games, not tonight).

Spring Social League 2011 – Finals week!

Due to some last minute field restrictions the finals for Spring League have been brought forward a week. This Monday saw the completion of the semi-finals which will be used to determine places for the grand finals week!

Importantly, some outdated information on our website may have given your team the impression that there were no games for you in finals week. Rest assured that this is not the case. The finals were brought forward a week specifically to enable us to have the field space required to accommodate finals games for all teams and players with the added bonus of everyone being in one location.

Spring Social League 2011 – Progress Report

Social League has been running along smoothly for the past few weeks. True to Tasmania’s spring, there has been a variety of weather conditions to test the skills of our intermediate players whilst also introducing the beginners to a full range of challenges.

In the Beginner division Youth Spirit remains undefeated at the top of the league table. Sacré Blue sits in second place whilst Lemon Meringue Tea Party Tarts is in third. These spots have been fairly consistent over the league so it will be interesting to see if any upsets can occur in the later weeks!

The bottom half of the table sees Grass Eaters in fourth position. Spanish Onion and Green are in 5th and 6th place respectively, with no wins to their names as yet. Both teams have experienced a couple of draws so it seems likely that a win is not too far away!

The Intermediate division is a little bit closer however Wobblies has performed well and sits at the top of the results table with no losses as yet. RGB and Run Long and Prosper both have 3 wins a piece, taking out 2nd and third spots on the ladder so far. Hey Apple! and Huddy are in fourth and fifth whilst What the Huck? has yet to chalk up a win, despite a close match with Wobblies in round 4.

The full results tables are available on the Spring Social League 2011 page. Thanks to all the players who are helping to make this a great fun league!
