Australian Under 22 Ultimate Championships 2016 – Tasmanian Player Expression of Interest

Were you born on or after 1 January 1994 and interested in representing Tasmania at the Under 22 Ultimate Championships? The Tasmanian Ultimate Association is seeking expressions of interest from players interested in representing Tasmania at the Australian Under 22 Ultimate Championships to be held in Melbourne/Geelong on the 26th-27th of November 2016.

To be eligible for a Tasmanian team you will need to be born after 1 January 1994 and be at least 15 years of age by the 26th of November. Please note: If there are insufficient numbers to field both a men’s and women’s team, the Tasmanian Ultimate Association will look to field a mixed team.

Tasmanian teams will have at least one dedicated coach and a team manager. Costs for the tournament (including travel, accommodation, uniforms, event fee, field hire, etc.) will need to be covered by participants. Further details on the selection process and campaign budget will be provided by coaching staff in late September.

If you are selected it is expected that you will attend weekly training sessions prior to the tournament.

The AFDA policy governing this tournament can be found at http://afda.com/m/australian-under-22-ultimate-championships-20160722.

Information regarding coaching staff, player selectors, and team manager positions can be obtained by enquiring at info@nulltasultimate.com.

Annual General Meeting

This is the announcement at the Tasmanian Ultimate Association AGM has been scheduled for 21 March 2016. The meeting will be held at the location of the summer social league fields (currently Sandown Park) at 6:50 pm, immediately after the finish of the round of beginner division games. All members of the Tasmanian ultimate community are encouraged to come along to the AGM. The meeting is expected to take approximately 15-20 minutes.

The TUA is run by volunteers who contribute their time to make sure that the association is able to facilitate and promote the sport of Ultimate in Tasmania. According to the TUA Constitution, the AGM is to be held within 3 months of the end of the association’s financial year, to: receive reports about the transactions and finances over the previous year, appoint an auditor for the coming year, elect officers and general committee members of the association, and determine their remuneration.

The officer positions (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) are open for election at the AGM.  If you wish to nominate yourself for an officer position before the meeting, you need to let the public officer of the association (currently Andy Cole, aacole42@nullgmail.com) know formally in writing at least 10 days in advance of the AGM (i.e., nominations must be received by 11 March).  If only one nomination for a position is received, the nominated person is elected without a vote. If zero nominations for a position are received, then nominations can be taken from the floor during the AGM.

Up to 10 general committee members may also be elected at the AGM. If you enjoy playing, coaching, or supporting Ultimate in Tasmania and have ideas about how to organise and grow the sport, please consider becoming a committee member!  Meetings are monthly and friendly.

The current officers, membership of the committee, and minutes of previous meetings (including last year’s AGM) are available online at http://www.tasultimate.com/about/tua-committee/
