====== Rules ====== Ultimate leagues in Tasmania are generally played using the WFDF rules. As of March 2009 leagues have been using the 2009 revision of the official rules, with a few variations and clarifications as outlined below. The structure of the rule variations and clarifications was modified in April 2011 alongside the introduction of leagues:Advanced League. These modifications were completed to ensure that the variations and clarifications facilitated the aims and requirements of all associated leagues. ===== All Leagues ===== The following rule variations apply to all leagues: === Spirit === As of August 2010, all TUA leagues use the 20-point Spirit of the Game ranking system developed by the WFDF and BULA. === Forfeits ==== - A team will forfeit a game if they can not field the minimum number of players required (as outlined by the relevant league specific rules) at the time the game is scheduled to start. - The minimum player numbers must also adhere to the gender matching rules of the league. - If 24 hours notice of a forfeit is provided to the opposing captain, the game will be considered a loss (rather than a forfeit). - The score line will be 0-3. - Each team will be awarded their spirit average (rounded up). - If a team has no previous spirit scores for the season, then a spirit score of 14 is awarded. - If a team forfeits a game without notice: - The score line will be 0-5. - The forfeiting team is awarded a spirit score of 0. - The winning team is awarded their average spirit score (rounded up). - If the winning team has no previous spirit scores for the season, then a spirit score of 14 is awarded. === Ranking Criteria and Tie Breakers === The following criteria are used to determine the league tables: - Competition points are awarded to teams based on the results of their games (Win: 3; Draw: 2; Loss: 1; No-result: 2; Forfeit: 0) - Team rankings are determined by (in order): - Competition points. - Head-to-head: - Fewest games forfeited. - Win/Loss % record, only counting games between the teams that are tied. - Goal difference, only counting games between the teams that are tied. - Win/Loss % record, only counting games against teams ranked higher than the teams that are tied. - Goal difference, only counting games against teams ranked higher than the teams that are tied. - Goal difference record in the whole competition. - Spirit points. - Skill: - Each team nominates one player to throw one disc from behind the goal line to the far brick point on a playing field designated by the LD. - Throwing order is determined randomly, by disc toss or otherwise. - Teams are ranked in order by the distance from the resting place of each disc to the brick point, from closest to furthest. === Game Cancellations === - If play is suspended after at least half the game time has elapsed and games can not be resumed, then the leading team shall be declared the winner. If scores were tied, then a draw will be declared. - In all other cases a "no result" will be declared. === Safety === - Covered footwear must be worn by all players (no barefoot players). - Cleats are compulsory for all outdoor leagues in Autumn and Winter, and for the Intermediate divisions of Summer and Spring. - No exposed metal is allowed on footwear (ie. no rugby union boots). - Additional safety related issues can be addressed by the league organisers on the spot and games stopped or players prevented from finishing a game as required. ===== Social Leagues ===== The following rule variations apply to all Social Leagues: === Gender Matching === (To accommodate the gender ratios of registration, the following rules may be relaxed at the discretion of the League Director) - Social leagues are all mixed gender. - Each team must field a minimum of one (1) player of each gender during each point. - The defensive team (pulling the disc) should field the same number of men and women as the offensive team (receiving the pull). === Time & Goal Caps === - Hard time caps apply to all social leagues at full-time, and half-time (if applicable). - When the time cap is reached: - If the disc is in the air, play will continue until the completion (or in-completion) of the pass. - If the game requires that a winner be established (ie. a league final), then the game will continue until the next goal is scored. - There is no goal cap for social leagues. ==== Outdoor Social Leagues ==== The following rule variations apply to all Social Outdoor Leagues: === Game Length === - The following time caps apply: - Beginner - 50 minutes - Intermediate - 80 minutes - There is no half-time. - There are no time-outs. === Forfeits === - A team will forfeit a game if they can not field five (5) players at the time the game is scheduled to start. ==== Indoor Social Leagues ==== The following rule variations apply to all Social Indoor Leagues: === Court === - The playing field is a netball court - The endzones are the shooting semi-circles at each end - The brick mark is the front most part of the endzone === Stall === - The stall count is 7 (instead of the usual 10) === Game Length === - Games consist of 2 x 25 minute halves - There are no time-outs === Forfeits === - A team will forfeit a game if they can not field four (4) players at the time the game is scheduled to start. ===== Advanced Leagues ===== The following rule variations apply to all Advanced Leagues: === Gender Matching === (To accommodate the gender ratios of registration, the following rules may be relaxed/altered at the discretion of the League Director) - Advanced leagues are all mixed gender. - Each team must field a minimum of one (1) player of each gender during each point. - The defensive team (pulling the disc) should field the same number of men and women as the offensive team (receiving the pull). ==== Outdoor Advanced Leagues ==== The following rule variations apply to all Advanced Outdoor Leagues: === Time & Goal Caps === - Soft time caps apply to all advanced leagues at full-time. - The Goal Cap is set to fifteen (15), with a half-time when a team first scores eight (8) goals - When the time cap is reached: - The game will continue until the current point is finished.
