Spring League 2012 Announcement

Spring is in the air and you know what that means: Spring League is on the horizon!

This year we’re bringing a few changes to the league, particularly for beginner division. Don’t worry, it will still be welcoming, fun, and a great way to introduce your friends and family to the sport. But we’re putting in some changes to try to make it an even better experience for new players.

First of all, this year’s beginner division will be called a “Learn to Play” division. There will be a new format: the usual hour will be split into a 20-minute skills session and a 40-minute game. Each week we’ll cover a new topic, giving new players more confidence and new skills to work on during the game. We’ll also assign a dedicated coach to each team, who will give greater support on and off the sidelines.

See the Learn to Play page for more information about this division.

What does this all mean for experienced players? For the Learn to Play division, we wish to limit participation of experienced players to those who are either coaching or captaining a team, or those who are bringing family or friends to the game. We certainly don’t want to dissuade you from joining your friends in this league, but we do hope you’ll join us in making new players the top priority.

The usual intermediate division will run in the time slot after Learn to Play. We’re hoping that the new format for the beginner division will result in a bigger and better intermediate division. (By the way, we’re hoping this will pave the way for running a concurrent advanced division some time in the future, giving everyone more opportunities to play at different levels!)

So, what are you waiting for? Head on over here to the Spring Social League 2012 page and register now.
