Announcement of Special General Meeting

On the 23rd July at 6pm, the TUA will be holding a Special General Meeting at The Duke.  The business of this Special General Meeting is to amend the constitution in several small but important ways, as well as receive the Treasurer’s financial reports that are overdue since March.

The agenda for this Special General Meeting is available here.  It is important to note that all association members (that is anyone who has played in a league or tournament in the last 12 months) are welcome to attend this Special General Meeting, and it will be immediately followed by a regular committee meeting for which the agenda is available here.

The first constitutional amendment to be proposed is one that allows electronic funds transfer to pay for costs (though still requiring two-person authorisation) in addition to the previously allowed cheque payment.  The full text of this amendment can be found in this TUA Constitution Ammendment 1 (pdf) file.

The second constitutional amendment to be proposed is one that updates an incorrect, old postal address for the association.  The proposal is to amend the constitution’s current Clause 3(1)

(1) The office of the Association is to be at the following place or any other place the committee determines:

62 Taroona Cres, Taroona TAS 7053

and adjust the address so it now reads:

(1) The office of the Association is to be at the following place or any other place the committee determines:

PO Box 421, Sandy Bay TAS 7006

The proposal for the third constitutional amendment is to adjust Clause 31 by replacing the words “next following” with the word “same”.  The clause currently reads:

31. Financial Year

The financial year of the Association is the period beginning on January 1 in one year and ending on December 31 the next following year.

this will be adjusted to read

31. Financial Year

The financial year of the Association is the period beginning on January 1 in one year and ending on December 31 the same year.

If you have any questions about the Special General Meeting or about the proposed amendments, please email our public officer or our president.
