Here’s some early information about the Tasmanian Two-Hat for everyone in the community, whether you’re intending to play or not.
The Tasmanian Two-Hat is a two-day Ultimate tournament held at Cornelian Bay. This year it will run on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October. This is a hat tournament, where players sign up individually and are randomly allocated to teams (by drawing names from a hat). Everyone is welcome to play, regardless of experience level. It’s quite common at the two-hat to see someone completely new to the sport playing their first game on a team with an elite player who has just come back from World Championships. So everyone’s invited, keep the dates free! Registrations will be open soon!
The TUA Committee is currently looking for a Tournament Director for the tournament, someone to chair the tournament subcommittee. Several people have already nominated themselves to be on the subcommittee and have started lots of work. The fields are already booked and many other jobs already underway, but we’d really love to have someone new join the subcommittee to provide some fresh perspectives. It won’t be difficult work, there’s lots of support, and you will get paid a small amount. If you’re interested in joining the subcommittee as a member, or if you’d like to put your hand up as the official TD, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re also looking for a logo for this year’s tournament. If you’ve got some ideas and would like to develop a logo that will be printed on all team shirts and used on other promotional material, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re interested (no commitment required), let me know by next Wednesday, and we can have a chat about the format of the design and deadlines and things.
